Chelsea Houska Deboer's daughter is driving!
In a PEOPLE-exclusive clip from the latest episode of HGTV's Down Home Fab, above, theTeen Mom 2 alum and her husband Cole Deboer surprise her daughter Aubree, 15, with a new car.
Aubree — who viewers first met when her birth was documented on MTV's 16 and Pregnant in 2009 — is at a "milestone age," Chelsea says. "She's definitely coming into her own. It's been fun to see who she's turning into."
"It's just so crazy to think of your child driving," she adds. "I'm happy for her to get her license, I'm excited for her, but it's also terrifying."
In South Dakota, teens can get a restricted license at 15 if they have passed a state-approved driver education course and have had a learners permit for at least 180 days. With a restricted license, they can drive unaccompanied from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. with no passengers outside of their immediate family for the first six months.
Cole shares they've found "the perfect car" for Aubree, so before she gets home from school, he's taking the new car to pick up two of her siblings, Watson and Layne. This way, Aubree will be home when her new car rolls down the driveway.
As Cole anxiously checks Aubree's location as she's riding home on the bus, Chelsea encourages him to head out so the timing is just right.
"This is a big moment. Getting your teenager a car, it's definitely emotional," Chelsea reflects. "There's a lot of letting go. There's a lot of feelings wrapped into this one moment."
Just as Aubree's walking down the driveway, series of loud honks pierce the air, and she turns to see a brand new SUV making its way toward the house. "Oh my God?" Aubree utters in disbelief.
The car approaches with the younger kids waving from out of the backseat. Chelsea squeals as Aubree takes in her birthday gift.
This is significantly better car-related news than in last week's season 3 premiere when, as Chelsea and Cole were preparing for the grand opening of their shop, Down Home by Deboers, they learned a car drove through the front window of the store.
No one was hurt but the store's window was boarded up and Chelsea and Cole were working on clearing out the damaged inventory as they considered their options for the grand opening.
Chelsea and Cole made their HGTV debut alongside kids Aubree, Watson, Layne, and Walker in 2023. The show follows the parents as they launch their new design business and keep up with their growing family.
Chelsea announced in 2020 that she was leaving the Teen Mom franchise. She later revealed her kids' privacy was a big factor in the decision and not something she'd willingly put into the spotlight again. That show documented Chelsea's difficult custody battle over Aubree with her ex Adam Lind.
"I would never go back to anything that's about my kids' personal life for sure," she told E! News. "I don't think I could do that. If something happened to be light-hearted and fun, I don't think I would say no ... I just feel like our family has gotten so much closer and we have a lot of land out here to explore."
Down Home Fab season 3, episode 2 premieres Tuesday, June 3 at 8 p.m. ET on HGTV.
