A.J. Brown gives Philadelphia Eagles' Cooper DeJean the ultimate new nickname with high expectations

Philadelphia Eagles defensive back Cooper DeJean is heading into his second season with the team, and expectations are already high after teammate A.J. Brown gave him a new nickname to live up to.

Brown has been calling DeJean, "All-Pro Coop," or “APC” for short.

“I thought he was crazy,” DeJean told reporters during training camp. “I thought he was crazy. But when he explained it to me, he was trying to speak it into existence for me. That gives me something to work towards and try to prove every single day when I come out here.”

It shouldn't be all that crazy since DeJean turned heads during his rookie year while holding his own in the slot and finishing with 51 tackles, three interceptions, and a forced fumble. His outstanding season landed him as a finalist for Defensive Rookie of the Year.

Now heading into year two, he's expected to take on an even larger role, splitting time between two positions: safety and nickel.

However, that extra responsibility shouldn't keep him from making an even bigger impact in Year 2, especially if a three-time All-Pro is there to build him up behind the scenes.

“It gives me something to strive and to work for,” DeJean said. “We had talked about that during OTAs. He's going to be one that pushes me every single day to make sure that I’m playing at a high level, no matter the day, to work towards that. Which is pretty cool coming from a guy who’s been All-Pro multiple times.”
