Actor James Denton ‘Still Trying to Recover’ After Injuries Sustained in 2024

Hallmark movie actor James Denton competed on France’s version of “Dancing With the Stars” (Danse Avec Les Stars) in 2024. While he had a great time on the show, Denton shared that he really hurt his knees while learning to ballroom dance.

“It was a huge adventure, but both my knees are just destroyed. I am still trying to recover, but it was really fun, and the people were really nice,” Denton said at a Christmas Con panel in Edison, New Jersey, in December 2024, according to People magazine.

Denton admitted that he’s been asked to do the US version of the show, but just didn’t feel it was a good fit for him.

“I never would’ve done the show here because I’m not a dancer. They’ve asked me to do ‘Dancing With the Stars’ in France a bunch of times, because ‘Desperate Housewives’ was huge there, and I’ve never even considered it,” he continued.

Denton admitted that he was “terrified” on the show but seemed to really enjoy the experience overall.

James Denton Suffered a Few Injuries on the Show

In addition to ballroom dancing proving to be extra hard on Denton’s knees, he also suffered a hamstring tear fairly early on in the competition.

“Grade 3 hamstring tear in rehearsal – a frustrating setback. Sincere apologies to the Danse Avec Les Stars audience and other contestants for not being able to participate last night. Thanks to amazing physical therapist Cyril Msika (@mykineo), I won’t be down for long,” he shared on Instagram in February 2024.

James Denton Lasted 6 Weeks on France’s ‘Dancing With the Stars’

Despite feeling scared to do the show, Denton did quite well on France’s 13th season. Paired with ballroom pro Candice Pascal, Denton lasted six weeks on the show before being eliminated.

“I’m here at the airport, and it seemed like a good time to thank everybody for their support on this crazy adventure,” Denton said in a video posted to Instagram.

“I’m heading home today, it was about time. But I hope it was as much fun to follow as it was to do. And big thank you to everyone on the show and to all of you who kept up with it. Au bientot,” he added.

Fans shared supportive messages in the comments section of the post and many expressed being sad to see Denton go.

“We gonna miss you James !! We are proud of you and you can be proud of you! Love you,” one person said.

“So so sorry you had to go. Maybe ‘Masked Singer’ like Teri, who knows ? Have a safe trip back home. We all love you,” another comment read.
