Winning a Super Bowl is the greatest achievement a football player can attain. But once it's in the past, there's no option but to focus on what's next.
Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver A.J. Brown is already moving on from his team’s historic Super Bowl LIX victory over the Kansas City Chiefs, shifting his attention toward the 2025 season.
“The parade was very special,” Brown told reporters ahead of Philly's OTAs. “I celebrated it and it was very fun. But after that moment, it was back to work, back to trying to find new ways to get better.”
According to Brown, winning a Super Bowl might seem like the ultimate fulfillment from the outside, but in reality, it's more about the journey to get there, and what comes next.
“Coming into the league, we were taught we’re playing for this reason," Brown said. "We’re playing for this trophy. And once we got the trophy, it was just like I thought everything would be fulfilled, like the hard work and everything. But no, it’s the journey. It’s the journey that matters the most and that means the most. Because those are the moments you look back at with your teammates that you’re spending time with and going to war, you’re suffering together and you’re winning together.
Brown wrapped up the 2024 season with 67 receptions for 1,079 yards and seven touchdowns. In the Super Bowl, he added three catches for 43 yards and a touchdown, helping lead the Eagles to a 40-22 victory over the Chiefs.
Looking ahead, Brown is determined to build on that success and only get better entering his seventh season.
“It always boils down to just watching film and you just take notes,” Brown said. “You just take notes of what you didn’t do really well last year that may have snuck through the cracks that nobody ever realized but you know deep down. Everybody knows their weaknesses and their strengths. You’re just trying to find new ways to pick a few things and you focus on that in the summer and during OTAs.”
