In order for the Denver Broncos to have an even better season than the one that they had last year, they will need all hands on deck. Sure, that sounds like the obvious thing, but the point is that even the role players will have to have great seasons.
We know that guys like Bo Nix and Courtland Sutton will almost always be there on the offensive side of the ball. And of course, we can't forget about Evan Engram, the former Jacksonville Jaguars tight end that they added this offseason, who has a pretty good track record.
Instead, I'm referring to the depth pieces, the backups, and the role players who receive a significant amount of playing time, but often don't get enough attention.
The guys like Justin Strnad and Drew Sanders will need to play a big role in 2025 because of depth.
Last year, the Broncos, like every other team, suffered some injuries on the defensive side of the ball that significantly impacted them at times during the season. Luckily, those two guys, in particular, are having great offseasons.
“When you look at the amount of snaps Strnad’s had, all of a sudden, now there’s a confidence, ‘I’m not just a guy running down on special teams. I started a whole season.’ And Drew, getting that work constantly inside, I think is extremely helpful," head coach Sean Payton told reporters during mandatory minicamp.
The Broncos are going to need depth everywhere on their defense, especially if they plan on overtaking the Kansas City Chiefs for the best team in the AFC West, and continue to hold off the Los Angeles Chargers and Las Vegas Raiders.
This defense could be the best in the league at its best, and even give the Philadelphia Eagles' defense a run for their money as the best one. If their depth can produce, and everyone does their job, there is no stopping this defense. And that includes guys like Strnad and Sanders.
