In a revealing moment of frustration, Love Is Blind star Amber Pike is opening up about a growing source of tension in her marriage to Matt Barnett — their drastically different approaches to parenting.
What started as small disagreements has now turned into near-daily arguments, with Amber admitting that Matt’s tendency to always say yes to their child’s every whim is doing more harm than good.
“He wants to be the fun parent, and I get it,” Amber shared. “But at what cost? Our kid is starting to expect the world to bend for them — and that’s not how life works.”
Amber says the imbalance in discipline has not only affected their child’s behavior — it’s also taking a toll on her emotionally.
“I’m the one saying no. I’m the one enforcing rules, setting boundaries, being consistent. And meanwhile, Matt swoops in with treats, toys, and ‘just five more minutes,’” she said. “I’m tired of always being the villain.”
She admits the resentment is building.
“I didn’t sign up to be the enforcer while he gets to be the hero. We’re supposed to be a team — but right now, it feels like I’m parenting both of them.”
Amber is clear: she doesn’t doubt Matt’s love or intentions. But she worries his need to avoid conflict with their child is setting a dangerous precedent.
“He hates seeing them upset. He caves to stop the tears. And in the short term, sure — it’s easier. But long term? We’re raising a kid who doesn’t hear ‘no’ without throwing a fit.”
She says she’s tried bringing it up calmly, but it often turns into a fight.
“He takes it personally, like I’m attacking him as a father,” Amber explained. “But this isn’t about love — it’s about limits. And if we don’t fix this now, we’re going to regret it later.”
While Amber and Matt have always been one of the more lighthearted couples to come out of Love Is Blind, parenting has revealed cracks in even their strongest foundation.
“We still love each other. But lately, love isn’t enough,” Amber said honestly. “We need to parent better — together. Or this is going to keep driving a wedge between us.”
Despite the tension, Amber says she’s hopeful they can find a middle ground — one where their child feels loved and learns responsibility.
“I just want us to be on the same page,” she said. “Because right now, it feels like we’re playing for different teams — and no one wins that way.”
