‘American Idol’ Star John Foster Reportedly in Talks to Join DWTS — A New Chapter Begins

"Dancing With the Stars” is heading into Season 34, and there is already some excitement and speculation surrounding the casting for the upcoming show. Officially, only wildlife conservationist Robert Irwin has been announced, but a “The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives” star recently dropped a major clue that she might have also signed on. But, what about “American Idol” singer John Foster?

Foster had an impressive run on Season 23 of the show and ultimately ended up in second place (he lost to Jamal Roberts). He won over fans with his wonderful personality and impressive vocals, and while he was not the winner, that doesn’t mean people don’t want to see more of him.

Is John Foster Considering Joining DWTS?

So, now that he has a taste for reality TV, could he return with a new gig? This question was posed to him during an interview with TV Insider on May 19. When asked if he would be interested in joining the cast of DWTS, he said, “I never really thought about that. I’ll you this – it’s certainly not a no.” Hot off the heels of his newfound fame, this could be an excellent career move, and because the cast appears to be still undecided (or at least ABC is keeping quiet about it for as long as possible) it is not out of the realm of possibility that Foster could be among the cast for Season 34.

Also in the interview, Foster discussed his new single, “Tell That Angel I Love Her.” It is a song he wrote in memory of his late friend who died in a car crash, and it is incredibly meaningful to him. “I’m going to push that out as much as possible,” Foster told TV Insider. “I think it gives people a great idea of who I am as a writer. I wrote that song by myself. It gives people a good glimpse of who I am as an artist and as a writer.”

Foster is ready to record an album and told TV Insider that he enjoys being in the studio.

John Foster’s Fans React to His Latest Instagram Post

Foster has not commented further on any new collaborations or joining DWTS, but he updated fans on his thoughts after “American Idol” and has been praised for being a “class act.” He shared a statement on Instagram on May 19. In the caption, he wrote, “After gathering my thoughts, here is my latest message to my family! I also want to send a very heartfelt congratulations to all of my fellow finalists, especially Jamal, his family, and his community; he is an incredible performer with whom I’m honored to have shared a stage. I’ll certainly be praying for him as he continues his journey.”

Fans reacted to the post with praise. “At the young age of 18, you are a class act. Your faith and humility will take you far, my friend. I look forward to hearing all of your new music!” a fan wrote. “You will go further than any winner has. You will be as famous as Carrie Underwood,” another fan shared.

Foster is dedicated to his music, but if he can take some time to put on his dancing shoes, he would be an exciting addition to DWTS.
