Andy Cohen dubs RHOC ‘the ultimate soap opera’ detailing surprising ‘turn of events’

Andy Cohen describes The Real Housewives of Orange County as “the ultimate soap opera” this July. The Bravo show host has been head honcho of the Housewives’ reunions for decades, so if he’s saying the drama is thick – we better believe it.

Andy Cohen Calls RHOC Season 18 'The Ultimate Soap Opera' - Reality Tea

The Real Housewives of Orange County kicked off season 18 on July 11 and fans are in store for some seriously awkward dynamics. OG of the series Heather Dubrow is clashing with newbie Katie Ginella, and Shannon Beador has to face mingling with her ex’s new girlfriend on multiple occasions.

RHOC is getting spicy

Of all the Real Housewives shows, The Real Housewives of New Jersey are renowned for their explosive fights and feuds. But, it seems the ladies of Orange County are creeping up the ranks of being super dramatic.

With Alexis Bellino and Shannon Beador’s dynamics set to play out, RHOC’s scenes could rival the dramas of RHOSLC or RHONJ any day of the week.

Shannon’s DUI drama is also laid bare and the ladies air their thoughts on her ‘two drink maximum’ months on from the incident.

The cast rifts have gotten so wild that Tamra and Shannon are no longer on talking terms (RIP to the Tres Amigas), and Heather Dubrow also tells Access Hollywood how she and Shannon aren’t on the best terms these days.

Despite not being tight besties, Heather still explained how she felt “bad” for Shannon having to mix in the same circles as Alexis as she’s now in a relationship with Shannon’s ex, John Jannsen.

Andy compares the show to a ‘soap opera’

Speaking on SiriusXM’s Andy Cohen Live this July, Andy says The Real Housewives of Orange County is like “the ultimate soap opera” this season.

The Bravo star explains on the radio show: “Listen, here’s the thing I love soap operas, and this is the ultimate soap opera that has been going on for years and years and years, and you now have someone who was on the show ten years ago who is now sleeping with Shannon’s ex.”

He adds: “That is a shocking turn of events, and it is one that is befitting a soap opera… I’m just saying why I think it’s so compelling.”

Andy shared how excited he was to hear A-List actors were turning into the show during season 18: “I got a text from my friend Eric Hughes who decorated my house, my place in the city. So, he texted that he was somewhere overseas and somehow, he was with Mary Steenburgen and Ted Danson, and they all watched the premiere of the Orange County Housewives and I go, ‘Wait. You’re telling me that Mary Steenburgen and Ted Danson saw that,’ and he said, ‘Yes and we were explaining everything to them, and they just couldn’t believe all the backstory,’ and I just said, ‘That is like a Fellini movie in itself.'”
