Former “Dancing with the Stars” pro dancer Kym Johnson Herjavec has big news. The fan-favorite two-time mirrorball champion revealed that she sold the script to her very first movie—and that it will have a dance theme.
Herjavec, who retired from DWTS in 2017 after marrying her Season 20 partner Robert Herjavec, shared a joyful post to Instagram in May 2025 to announce her exciting career news, and fans were thrilled.
In her Instagram post, Herjavec posted a photo of her in a meeting with a group of collaborators. In the caption, she gave a shout-out to her mentor of six years, Beth Stevenson, for teaching her about “movie-making: development, finance, sales, and all the magic in between.”
“Together, we created a beautiful dance-themed Christmas movie—and after many ups and downs, I’m beyond proud to say… we sold it!” Herjavec wrote.
Herjavec noted that this was her first time selling a project and that it felt “so rewarding.”
“I’ve always believed it’s never too late to grow, evolve, and learn something new,” the 48-year-old mom of two added. “It’s never too late to pivot your career or follow a new dream. 🎥 🍿💃🕺🎅🎄.”
“Dancing With the Stars” fans know Johnson for her 15 years on the ABC dancing show. She was partnered with everyone from Mr. T to talk show host Jerry Springer to mirrorball winners Donny Osmond and Hines Ward during her 15 seasons on the celebrity dance-off.
After she left DWTS and married “Shark Tank” star Robert Herjavec, she gave birth to twins, Hudson and Haven. Herjavec operated a dance school in Beverly Hills but also found new creative outlets in other areas in the entertainment world.
According to her IMDb profile, she had a role in the TV movie “Love Alaska” and the movie “Christmas with the Knightlys.” Her most recent acting role was in the 2024 Lifetime movie “Hunting Housewives.” Johnson appeared with former “Real Housewives” stars Denise Richards and Nene Leakes in the made-for-TV film.
In an interview with Heavy/EntertainmentNOW in March 2024, Herjavec said she would “love” to do more acting. “I’m working with a production company in Canada on development and production, which has been great!” she told us last year, adding, “It’s been fun to pivot into development and production of movies.”
At the time, Herjavec also teased that she was working on “a couple of movies in development and an animated kids scripted series.”
