Few teams have gone through the types of injuries and revolving door of players that the Buffalo Bills defense has over the first 10 weeks of the NFL season.
One constant on the team, though, has been first-round edge rusher Gregory Rousseau. In a key fourth-season with the Bills, Rousseau has recorded 5.5 sacks for a team that is 12th in the league in sacks.
At just 24 years old, the breakout season that many expected has finally come. And many analysts believe that he can be an up-and-coming Pro Bowl option for Buffalo this season.
NFL.com’s Kevin Patra believes that's the case at least.
“Rousseau's career has been building to this season,” Patra wrote. “The uber-talented athlete has been a menace through 10 games. Seemingly every play, there is No. 50 flying onto the screen, hitting a ballcarrier, swiping at a quarterback, tipping a pass, or skunking a play.
"His 5.5 sacks put the former first-round pick on pace for a career-high, and his 12 tackles for loss are tied for an NFL high (with three-time Pro Bowler and DPOY candidate Trey Hendrickson)."
Buffalo is off to their best start to a season since the 1990s and have a great chance to end the Kansas City Chiefs' undefeated run this season. A big part of that success comes from Rousseau's breakout campaign.
If the Miami product can play well on Sunday, it could shift the balance of power in the AFC.
