Following the split, it appeared that Jenn was headed for happily ever after with Devin, but things unexpectedly took a turn for the worse.
Host Jesse Palmer revealed that they would not be showing the couple's engagement in that moment, turning the mic over to the Bachelorette star to explain why.
"We left Hawaii engaged," she shared through tears on After the Final Rose.
"I thought I found the person I wanted to spend the rest of my life with. As soon as we left Hawaii, things were different."
Jenn claimed that after returning home from their final beach vacation, Devin started "pulling away."
"I was confused, I didn't understand because we had just left so happy," she revealed.
"He basically said he didn't love me anymore and didn't feel the same way," she said, reflecting on the split.
"He was checked out. It wasn't what he wanted anymore."
The Bachelorette star shared the many ways she tried to fight for their relationship, including offering Devin the opportunity to continue the relationship without being engaged.
He, however, opted to go their separate ways, which confused and hurt Jenn.
Devin appeared on stage during After the Final Rose but struggled to defend himself.
He claimed he had doubts about the proposal but suppressed them until he couldn't anymore.
After the couple hashed out their differences, bickering over clubbing and the manner in which Devin decided to call off their relationship, Jesse revealed that it was time to watch the proposal.
He questioned whether Jenn and the audience were ready, at which point she sobbed and replied back, "Do I have a choice?"
FURIOUS FANS
Online, Devin received major backlash from viewers, slamming him for his behavior, but Bachelorette viewers also bashed Jesse and members of production for making Jenn watch back the proposal.
Prior to the twist, Jenn revealed to Jesse that she was not going to allow Devin to propose to her.
Instead, she was going to get down on one knee and ask him to marry her.
When the proposal was shown, it was revealed that she did just that.
Before Devin could pop the question, she got down and proposed to him and he accepted.
He then propose back, revealing the massive diamond ring he got for her.
"I'm so in love with you," he said as he kissed her.
After the footage aired, Jenn said, "The truth is I do not regret proposing to that man on there but that man doesn't exist anymore."
"Absolutely horrific of #TheBachelorette producers to make Jenn rewatch this proposal and be re-traumatized. Like, actually evil behavior," one critic posted on X.
"This is one of the cruelest things I have seen in reality television history!! Making her watch this proposal is evil!!" slammed a second.
"This is actually so evil if I was Jenn I'd set the room on fire," complained a third.
"Then showing the proposal while Jenn is forced to sit there next to Devin and watch is maybe the most evil thing this show has ever done???" bashed another upset viewer.
A fourth wrote, "Watching this proposal is so evil...I'm actually in tears and if this is traumatizing ME how badly is this traumatizing jenn?"
Some fans even threatened to boycott the show.
"yall can we boycott this damn show? them making her sit here and watch this while sitting next to devin and with a camera on her is so freaking evil. grow up abc, you didn’t need to show this for views everyone was already watching," a viewer critiqued.
"Boycott [Bachelor in Paradise] if they cast Devin. He played #TheBachelorette franchise and he went on for exposure and followers. Do better @ABCNetwork," complained a second.
A third wrote, "I’m never watching this show again and we should all boycott their next season because this is the cruelest shit I’ve ever seen. They should have forced HIM to watch and let her go backstage."
"Gonna have to boycott #TheBachelorette until producers issue an apology to Jenn for airing this footage....FOUL of them," vowed a fourth.
MOVING ON
While Jenn is still healing from her split, and nothing has been revealed about Devin's future, one of the Bachelorette star's exes is heading to paradise.
Jonathan Johnson received the first invite to Bachelor in Paradise after he was dumped by Jenn on the show.
On August 27, Jenn reunited with all 14 of her past contestants for the Men Tell All.
During the episode, The Bachelorette fans got to see Jenn's final two, as well as who was sent home.
Devin and Marcus received the final two roses while Jonathan was sent packing.
In their final conversation, Jonathan recalled the night before when he sat on the beach and realized Jenn was the one for him.
"The whole time I was sitting there I found all the clarity I needed and there was nobody that I wanted to be sitting there with more than you," he began.
"Then it hit me that it took too long to realize that. I think you were perfect for me and I wasn't perfect for you."
Jenn then told Jonathan that she loved that she could be her true self around him, adding that she enjoyed the way their relationship evolved from friendship to romance.
Jonathan broke down in tears on the car ride home.
"I'm mad at myself. If I could have gotten there sooner, this wouldn't be a problem. I could have done better, I could have been better," he said.
"I can see an amazing future with this girl and I feel like the biggest idiot in the world cause something amazing was right in front of me and I was too much of my own enemy just to see it until I was too late."
Online, fans slammed Jenn, claiming she made a major mistake.
One stated, "I think that of the final three, Jonathan was the best choice.
"He’s mature and fun!! I think she messed up."
"That’s it. [I don't care] who wins. Jonathan was it and she blew it," slammed a second.
A third wrote, "I need the finale to be Jenn not picking either of the final two and running back to Jonathan please!!"
"Jenn fumbled Johnathan so bad," a fourth person confessed.
During his interview, Jonathan revealed that after being rejected by Jenn, he was still single.
Jesse said, "There's a certain beach that's gonna be opening next summer, so I would hereby like to officially extend to you the very first invite to [Bachelor In Paradise]."
The crowd was stunned and encouraged Jonathan to accept.
"I guess I'll see you there!" Jonathan smiled and shook Jesse's hand.
