Legendary promoter Bob Arum has revealed who he believes is the greatest fighter of all time.
The 93-year-old from New York founded Top Rank back in 1973 and has gone on to work with many of boxing’s greatest ever fighters, including the likes of Muhammad Ali, Mike Tyson, Floyd Mayweather, Marvelous Marvin Hagler and Joe Frazier.
In more recent years, Arum has played an instrumental role in the career development of Japanese pound-for-pound sensation Naoya Inoue, who has captured world titles in four weight divisions as well as the undisputed championship at bantamweight and super bantamweight.
Speaking to Jai McCallister, Arum made didn’t hesitate to name ‘The Monster’ Inoue as the greatest fighter he has ever laid eyes on throughout his entire five-decade career in boxing.
“Inoue is not only pound-for-pound the best in the world, Inoue is the best fighter I’ve ever seen, no matter what weight category or anything.
“I have never ever in the almost 60-years I’ve been in boxing seen anything like Inoue.”
Inoue has defeated all 29 of the opponents he has faced during his tenure, racking up an impressive 26 knockout victories along the way.
He currently reigns as the undisputed super bantamweight champion, achieving this feat when he knocked out Marlon Tapales in the tenth round of their bout in December 2023.
‘The Monster’ has gone on to make three successful defences of his crown since then, and is due to return to the ring for the 30th time as a professional when he faces America’s Ramon Cardenas as the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas on May 4.
