Boxing Legend Says ‘No Disrespect To Muhammad Ali’ But I’m The Greatest Of All Time

Mayweather & Ali included, no Tyson or Pacquiao: 10 greatest boxers of all time ranked

Muhammad Ali is known to many by his moniker ‘The Greatest.’

The heavyweight boxing icon is arguably the biggest name in the history of the sport, having transcended the sport to become one of the most recognisable names on the planet.

He remains the only three-time lineal heavyweight champion in history and was involved in some of the most memorable fights ever, including the ‘Rumble In The Jungle’ against George Foreman and the ‘Thrilla In Manila’ against Joe Frazier.

Despite those accolades, there is one boxing legend who believes that it should be him that is regarded as the greatest, rather than Ali.

That man is Floyd Mayweather, who despite claiming he meant no disrespect to Ali, told First Post that he feels he is above the heavyweight icon due to the defeats he suffered in his career.

“I feel like I have done just as much in the sport as Ali. It is hard for a guy to be like me, still sharp at 38. No disrespect to Ali, but I feel like I am the best. Ali lost in his career to Leon Spinks. He lost some other fights and is still known as the greatest. That is what it is.”

Mayweather retired in 2017 with a perfect 50-0 record, becoming a five-weight world champion from super-featherweight to super-welterweight, picking up impressive wins over Manny Pacquiao, Canelo Alvarez and Oscar De La Hoya along the way.

Mayweather isn’t the only boxing legend to claim that he should be viewed as the greatest, with former undisputed heavyweight champion Evander Holyfield also doing the same.
