Broncos Host Speedster Texas Running Back on Top 30 Visit

Jaydon Blue's comeback is underway at Texas - Burnt Orange Nation

The Denver Broncos head into the 2025 NFL Draft with a few areas to address, but one position stands out above the rest. Adding a running back is a priority for the offseason, and with the NFL Draft loaded at the position, the ones Denver meets with are worth monitoring.

According to NFL writer Aaron Wilson for KPRC 2 Houston, the Broncos have met with Texas Longhorns running back Jaydon Blue. The Texas running back is coming off an impressive season with Texas, where his dual-threat ability was highlighted.

In 2024, Blue led the Longhorns with eight rushing touchdowns. His final totals were 730 rushing yards on 134 attempts for a 5.4 yards per carry average. Blue's receiving totals were also solid, finishing with 368 yards and six receiving touchdowns on 42 receptions.

While Blue doesn't have the volume that plenty of other running backs in the class have, he fits the 'joker' role that Broncos head coach Sean Payton expressed his desire to add.

The Junior out of Texas is five-foot-nine, 196 pounds. He's not the largest running back in the class, but he is a burner. Blue ran an unofficial 4.25 40-yard dash at his pro day, significantly faster than his official NFL Scouting Combine time of 4.38.

The large disparity in 40-yard dash times didn't hurt his overall ranking, being the second-fastest running back that ran at the combine. While his likely slot during the NFL Draft isn't until day three, multiple teams have been meeting with Blue, including the Super Bowl Champion Philadelphia Eagles.

Denver needs a running back, and Blue would be a great complement to the current backfield. Blue could also factor into the kick-return game, something that might become more important considering the recent NFL rule changes to move touchbacks to the 35-yard line.

The Texas running back is a great fit for Denver and is likely to be available on day three of the 2025 NFL Draft. Day three of the NFL Draft begins on Saturday, April 26th.
