Broncos insider believes team could trade for $20 million star Jets wide receiver

The Denver Broncos realized their first playoff berth in nearly a decade behind rookie quarterback Bo Nix. They did that despite not having much in terms of high-level playmakers on offense outside of Courtland Sutton.

You can make a pretty good argument that this will be the worst team Nix plays on during his time in Denver, meaning the arrow for the team is pointing way up. This offseason should be centered around finding the kind of players to make the team more competitive in what is an incredibly tough field of teams in the AFC.

Broncos insider Andrew Mason, speaking to Ian Van Roy of Sportskeeda, believes that the team could make a trade with the New York Jets that would lead to the acquisition of wide receiver Garrett Wilson.

"I think there are people who maybe want to will Garrett Wilson to the Broncos into the conversation. It's also interesting that, of course, Garrett Wilson's with the Jets and, that's where Darren Mougey, the former Broncos executive went. Keep your eyes on some things with the Jets perhaps."

Mason makes a strong point about Darren Mougey, who was recently hired as the new general manager of the Jets after spending the past 13 seasons in Denver's front office. There could still be some ties between the two sides that could allow a deal to take place.

The Broncos and Jets made a couple of trades last year as Denver traded for Zach Wilson and John Franklin-Myers in separate trades.

Wilson would certainly be a huge addition to the Broncos' roster but he is still one of the top pieces in New York. The former first-round pick will turn 25 years old in July. He already has 279 career receptions and is coming off of a 100-catch season in 2024.

The Jets have as many questions to answer as any team in the league with Mougey and new head coach Aaron Glenn overseeing things, but their top wide receiver won't be sold at a reduced rate. Would it be wise for the Broncos, still somewhat reeling from all they lost in the Russell Wilson deal, to make a big move like this?

That is certainly debatable, but there is no doubt about the talent he would bring to Denver, particularly when paired with a proven veteran such as Sutton.
