Year 1 of the Bo Nix experience shattered expectations. He finished his rookie season with 3,775 passing yards, a 66.3% completion percentage, and a 29-12 TD-INT ratio. He led the Denver Broncos to a 10-7 record and their first playoff appearance since 2015.
Heading into Year 2, Denver decision-makers have made it a point to surround their franchise quarterback with better weapons. If Nix can succeed with Javonte Williams, Devaughn Vele, and Adam Trautman, imagine what he can do with above-average NFL playmakers.
With Denver potentially locking in on incoming rookies to fill their RB1 and TE1 roles, don’t be surprised if they add to the wide receiver room in free agency. One logical veteran target is wide receiver Amari Cooper.
According to Mike Jones of The Athletic , "The Broncos badly want a veteran wide receiver to pair with second-year pro Bo Nix. With the Bengals taking Tee Higgins off the free-agent market, Cooper is among the best options available."
Cooper was traded to Buffalo at midseason but never found his groove with quarterback Josh Allen. Coming off his worst statistical season since his injury-shortened 2018 season with Oakland, a change in scenery seems inevitable. A partnership with Nix in Denver could benefit both.
