Broncos QB Bo Nix Draws Heavy Attention With Eye-Opening Display

The Denver Broncos are all-in on Bo Nix. The second-year quarterback is doing his part to take the next steps in his development. As the Broncos prepare for their second week of training camp, Nix’s recent comments have garnered significant attention.

Nix met with NFL legend Drew Brees.

He has also had frequent conversations with Broncos legend and Hall of Famer Peyton Manning, among other tasks, in preparation for the season.

Super Bowl champion and former Broncos wide receiver Bennie Fowler now works as an analyst for DNVR Sports. He also lauded Nix’s development as a leader after observing Broncos camp. Fowler also complimented Nix for coaching up his teammates in real-time.

“His growth in leadership and attention to detail this year is truly impressive,” Fowler said in a post to begin a thread on X on July 27. “You could also feel Bo Nix’s energy and passion on the field. It’s not just about the throws, it’s about the presence. He clearly loves being out there, and that enthusiasm is infectious. Always great to see that kind of drive from your signal-caller.”

Fowler also noted how Nix’s meeting with Brees “resonated” with him.

“Think about the wisdom transfer there. Drew had to learn to operate with Sean Payton, year in and year out. Bo got a chance to learn the intricate details of how Drew thought about progressions, routine, the entire offensive philosophy,” Fowler posted. “Mentorship is crucial in every walk of life, but in the NFL, for a QB under a coach like Sean Payton, having Drew Brees as a guide is the ultimate advantage. That connection could truly help Bo make a significant jump from Year 1 to Year 2.”

Nix led the Broncos to 10 wins and their first playoff berth since 2015 while rewriting the franchise record books as a rookie.

Bo Nix Driven By ‘Fear’ of Letdown

Nix reciprocates the praise he receives for his work ethic and taking the reins of the team. Moreover, he said he had a “fear” of not being good enough for his Broncos teammates.

That is what drives him.

“I just want to continue to show these guys that I’m willing to work and find every which way we can to find wins, and find every which way for me to get better. I know I got a lot of growth left, a lot to be done, but these guys are going to help me get there,” Nix told reporters on July 26.

“We’re just out here kind of sharpening each other, going best-on-best, and just finding ways to make each other better. And it’s fun. I think just being the quarterback of a team like this, it’s what you live for. It’s what you practice for, work for your whole time. And, literally, when I started lifting, and training, and getting ready for this football journey back in sixth, seventh grade, it was really fun.”

“A lot of the times, as a rookie, you just don’t want to look like an idiot. Now, you can go out there and look a lot better than an idiot,” Nix said. “I’m excited for Year 2, excited for this football team. I really like where we’re at right now. Love our teammates, and just – eventually we’ll get to play somebody else.”

This is Nix’s second offseason and training camp with the Broncos. It is the first where he was actively playing the role of recruiter and welcome committee while preparing for the season.

Nix is relishing that as well as his newfound continuity offensively with the Broncos.

“Bo Nix telling the media he has a fear of not being good enough or prepared enough for his team and that is what drives him to be great is awesome to hear [100 emoji],” the Sleeper Brocos handle posted on X on July 26. “Words can’t describe how relieved and happy #BroncosCountry is for finally have a guy.

“Franchise QB [exclamation point emoji].”

Bo Nix Puts League on Notice After Top 100 Ranking

Following his record-setting first year with the Broncos, Nix ranked 64th in the NFL’s annual Top 100 Players list for 2025, which his voted on by his peers. He put the league on notice in reaction to his ranking, while acknowledging the “honor” of making the cut.

“I’m kind of on both sides with it. I think it’s obviously a cool honor because that’s your peers’ thing, that’s guys you play. But at the same time, just the way I think, the way I am motivated, I want to continue to get higher, and not even for the ranking. It doesn’t really matter what you’re ranked. It’s just an internal standard that I have that I want to be the best in the world,” Nix said.

“I know there’s a lot of guys that I’m competing for that with, and I’m not going to stop until I at least give it my best try.”

Nix and the Broncos will put on pads in their second week of training camp.
