Broncos Trade Idea Acquires NFC South Receiver for Bo Nix

The Denver Broncos have a window.

Second-year quarterback Bo Nix is still on his rookie contract, and they must surround him with as much talent as possible to maximize their current opportunity to compete.

While they made plenty of moves this offseason to bolster their offense, such as signing tight end Evan Engram to a two-year deal and drafting UCF running back RJ Harvey in the second round, they still lack a bit in the wide receiver room.

Broncos Trade Idea Acquires NFC South Receiver for Bo Nix

Courtland Sutton is a true number one receiving option, but outside of him, they have a lot of guys who have shown flashes but haven't done enough to warrant being named a legitimate threat.

Marvin Mims Jr., Troy Franklin, and Devaughn Vele showed some signs of success in 2024, but none had more than 600 yards receiving on the season.

Head coach Sean Payton should get on the phones and reach out to an old friend, New Orleans Saints general manager Mickey Loomis, and get a reading on whether wide receiver Chris Olave is available.

The Saints are in a tough spot. Years of kicking the can down the road have left them in salary cap purgatory. After the sudden retirement of quarterback Derek Carr, they'll be relying on unproven quarterbacks Tyler Shough and Spencer Rattler to lead the offense.

Entering a contract year, Olave would understandably not want to undergo a rebuild to cash in on his second contract.

Enter the Broncos, who should be on the hunt for more weapons to compete in a stacked AFC West. Olave would be a perfect addition to the Denver offense and would complement Sutton's skill set well, lining up opposite him.

The Broncos would also be able to sign Olave long-term, as previously mentioned, they won't be paying Nix major quarterback money for at least another four seasons.

Sending out a 2026 second-round pick should get the deal done for the former Ohio State product, and he would be happier in Denver with a brilliant offensive coach in Payton and a rising star in Nix than he would be in New Orleans for a rookie quarterback and head coach.

If Denver wants to capitalize on their current window and stack the deck for their offense going forward, it should consider making the call.
