Broncos Trade Idea Brings In Troublesome 2,800 Yard Receiver For Day 2 Pick

Steelers Daily News & Links: Pickens Usage, AB Speaks on Pickett

The Denver Broncos are widely expected to spend the early parts of the NFL Draft finding offensive weapons to help out new franchise quarterback, Bo Nix.

This year's draft is filled with high level tight ends and running backs, with Colston Loveland and Omarion Hampton both potential targets for the Broncos when they first pick at #20 overall.

However, this is very much a down year for wide receivers in the draft, with many believing that there could be just two pure wideouts (given Colorado's Travis Hunter is a two-way player) selected in the first 32 picks.

And with news breaking from NFL insider, Jordan Schultz, that controversial Pittsburgh Steelers receiver, George Pickens, has been the subject of trade talks from multiple teams, the Broncos could well be a natural fit.

As Schultz notes, the Steelers are not fully out on the former second round pick, coming into his fourth and final year of his deal, writing that "Pittsburgh is not actively shopping him".

But this language is often a pure technicality that teams use to maintain leverage in negotiations - something that particularly key if there are in fact numerous teams looking to acquire Pickens' services.

Denver would be a very intriguing destination for the Georgia alum; current WR1, Courtland Sutton , on the last year of his deal, and head coach, Sean Payton, has extensive experience dealing with "diva" esque wideouts during his time in New Orleans (read: Michael Thomas).

Given Pickens' strong, but not incredible production; his off-the-field issues; and his having just one year left on his rookie contract, it is unlikely that bringing him in would require a haul.

For a hypothetical trade proposal, the compensation could look like as follows.

Broncos get: George Pickens; 2025 6th round pick (#185 overall)

Steelers get: 2025 3rd round pick (#85 overall), 2025 4th round pick (#122 overall)

Pittsburgh gets a difficult playmaker off their hands, who may have otherwise been heading to free agency, whilst the Broncos get one of the more talented receivers in the entire league to help Nix take another step forward in year two.
