Broncos’ Young Corner Gets Strong Backing Ahead Of Key 2025 Season

The Denver Broncos‘ defense has a legitimate chance to be one of the league’s best in 2025.

After ranking 9th in total defense in 2024, additions at linebacker, Dre Greenlaw, safety, Talanoa Hufanga and first round rookie corner, Jahdae Barron mean the unit has a genuine shot at being a top-5 defense – or even better – this upcoming season.

Denver Broncos defensive coordinator Vance Joseph.

But even with Barron likely coming straight into the team as the nickel, perhaps a bigger question with that side of the ball is on the perimeter of the secondary, where Riley Moss will once again occupy the CB2 spot opposite reigning Defensive Player of the Year, Pat Surtain II.

Entering his third year, and his second as a starter, this is a crucial season for the Iowa product. One that will ultimately determine if he is to remain a full-time starter in the league and with the franchise, or if he is to be seen as just a quality backup option.

Dave Logan Shows Faith In Riley Moss Heading Into Third Year

One person who seems to have a significant amount of faith in the corner is radio host, Dave Logan who spouted substantial praise for the 25-year old on Thursday.

Dave Logan BELIEVES in Riley Moss, he told @BennieFowler123 on @DNVR_Broncos.

“I think Riley’s going to have a good year”

“I think Riley [Moss] is going to have a good year.” Logan said on DNVR Broncos, “I know some people are sort of down on him. I watched him a lot in camp last year, man, he’s not quite as big as Surtain, but he’s bigger than your average corner. He’s long, really competitive and he runs better than you would think…you have to have enough athletic ability and speed and he certainly does. He’s not shy on speed or athletic ability.

I think last year – I mean he didn’t play the rookie year, he was hurt. So last year, in essence, to me was his rookie season. And so you learn so much playing corner out there. I mean [for] rookies – guys that don’t have a lot of experience – that’s the hardest position to play.”

Can Moss Improve On His “Rookie” 2024 Season

As Logan puts it, 2024 somewhat acted like Moss’ surrogate first season in the NFL, and it was certainly his first year as a starter.

Moss did not play poorly by any means; Pro Football Focus ranked him with a grade of 61.2, good for the 114th out of 222 cornerbacks in the NFL, a shade under the median grade at the position.

But – as many players do in the league – there can be a substantial jump from the first to second year playing in the league, and the same with second to third years – both of which strangely applies to Moss in one way or another. So there is no doubt room for improvement in his third official year in the pros.

There is not a ton of competition behind the Iowa man for the outside spot, and if Logan is correct, he will not be needing it.
