Browns Called Out for Latest Post After Nick Chubb Departure

The Browns are being reminded they let Nick Chubb walk after their latest social media post.

The Cleveland Browns are facing criticism for a recent social media post intended to promote the new Superman movie.

The post features a player — seemingly tight end David Njoku — wearing a cape and looking out over the city skyline alongside a dog. The caption reads: “It’s a bird! It’s a plane! It’s…a dawg.”

While the post was intended to be lighthearted, it struck a nerve with fans who were quick to recall another superhero-like figure the Browns let walk — Nick Chubb, who was affectionately known as Cleveland’s Batman.

“We only had one superhero, and his name is Nick Chubb. We don’t have any more superheroes,” a fan said.

“This is Batman’s town,” another fan added.

Others took the opportunity to roast the Browns over their recent struggles.

“Look up cause we can’t get and further down,” another fan said.

Nick Chubb Found Home With Houston Texans

Chubb signed a one-year, $2.5 million contract with the Houston Texans in June, officially ending his seven-year tenure in Cleveland. The Browns also opted not to bring him back after drafting two running backs — Dylan Sampson and Quinshon Judkins.

The four-time Pro Bowler received limited interest early in free agency due to a string of injuries that have hampered him over the last two seasons. In 2023, Chubb suffered a significant knee injury, tearing his MCL and damaging his ACL, an ordeal that required two surgeries. He returned last season but was sidelined once again, this time with a broken foot.

Chubb assured that the injuries are behind him and he’s ready to hit the ground running with his new team.

“That’s all behind me. Injuries happen,” Chubb said. “With what I did, it takes about two years to really get back. So, I’m over the hump. Now, I’m feeling as good as I have been in a long time.”

Browns Players Disappointed in Nick Chubb Departure

Chubb’s departure didn’t just hit the fans. The locker room felt it too, with players like Joel Bitonio and Myles Garrett speaking out.

“I love Nick. I think a lot of the guys who are in this locker room still feel the same way as I do. It crushes to see him get injured, had to battle through, and then it happened again,” Garrett said during minicamp. “So we want the very best for him. Happy to see him still able to play, still able to do his thing. Wanted to see him go back to being the player that he was and have a smile on his face, and continue to ball out.”

The Browns released a statement after Chubb signed with the Texans, saying he will have a place in the team’s Ring of Honor.

“Nick always puts winning above any personal accolade, and that is what makes him so special,” the statement read. “Thank you for being a Brown, Nick, and we look forward to the day we celebrate your career as a member of our Ring of Honor.”

The Browns running back depth includes Judkins, Sampson and veteran Jerome Ford, who returned after taking a paycut this offseason.
