Browns Fans Are Saying the Same Thing About Latest Deshaun Watson News

Deshaun Watson named a top candidate to be traded this offseason

Cleveland Browns quarterback Deshaun Watson may not be long for the NFL, but he's spending big on his newest commitment.

When the Cleveland Browns traded for quarterback Deshaun Watson and signed him to a fully guaranteed $230 million contract, they kicked off perhaps the worst marriage in NFL history.

Since being dealt to the Browns before the 2022 season, Watson has been suspended for 11 games due to more than two dozen claims of sexual harassment assault – 20 of which were settled – and dealt with several injuries that accelerated his decline.

He suffered two shoulder injuries in 2023, limiting him to just six games. In 2024, his campaign was cut short by a torn Achilles, ending his season and thrusting his football career into additional doubt. In January, three months removed from the initial tear, he ruptured it again.

Cleveland will almost certainly be without Watson for the duration of the 2025 season, and it is more likely than not that he never plays another down for the franchise. While he awaits his football fate, he is finding better luck in other facets of his life.

Watson proposed to his now-fiancée Jilly Anais, and Browns fans are all saying the same thing about his engagement ring.

TMZ spoke to the jeweler that crafted his ring with over 20 carats of diamonds, Vikar Ahmed.

"This diamond engagement ring is not just a piece of jewelry; it is a declaration of commitment, a celebration of craftsmanship, and a mark of prestige," Ahmed said.

"With its breathtaking design and the story behind its creation, it stands as a testament to the beauty of love and the artistry of high jewelry."

Watson earned $46 million for his part in Cleveland’s 3-14 2024 campaign. A chunk of that manifested itself in the couple’s prized possession.

“Ahmed said he and Watson worked together for seven months to create the perfect ring ... and it's worth up to $2.5 million,” TMZ reported.

While Watson recovers and spends time away from the game, the Browns are distancing themselves from the disgraced quarterback and actively looking for his replacement. With the second pick in the 2025 NFL Draft, picking one of Cam Ward or Shedeur Sanders would all but officially end the Watson era of Cleveland football.

The Browns are also investigating veteran options such as Kirk Cousins and Russell Wilson as they finalize their divorce and look for the cleanest financial path out of Watson’s deal.
