Browns GM Reveals Update Surrounding Star's Uncertain Future With Team

The Cleveland Browns are coming off a very disappointing year, going 3-14, marking their third losing season in four years, and finished last in the AFC North.

With the offseason now starting to ramp up, Cleveland has a few big decisions to make, and one of them surrounds running back Nick Chubb, who is slated to hit the open market.

On Tuesday, the Browns general manager, Andrew Berry, updated reporters on the team's progress toward potentially bringing Chubb back.

“I do expect Nick to hit the market,” he said. “Obviously his contract is up this year. We’ll meet with his reps and everything like that but it’s something, obviously we need to work on for him in the next couple of weeks.”

Of course, it's been a disappointing two years for Chubb, who was limited to just two starts in 2023 after suffering a torn MCL, that didn't allow him to return until Week 7 in 2024. 

Things only got worse when he suffered a broken foot in their Week 15 loss against the Kansas City Chiefs, meaning he played just eight total games in 2024.

It's truly dampened what looked like a very bright career as a round-two pick for the Browns in 2018, then going on an impressive stretch from 2019 to 2022, where Chubb made four consecutive Pro Bowls and 1,000-yard seasons.

Chubb isn't expected to fetch too much money in free agency this year, though, as Spotrac currently places his market value at just $3.3 million annually.a
