Browns Possible Free Agent Veteran QB List Shortens

The Cleveland Browns will most likely have a new quarterback once again for 2025. After the news in January of Deshaun Watson tearing his Achilles for the second time in three months, he'll likely miss all of 2025 and may have played his last down for the Browns.

The team will have options - whether they be rookies from the draft or seasoned veterans in free agency - but those are shrinking after the trade that sent Geno Smith to Las Vegas and Matthew Stafford re-signed with the Rams.

If Cleveland decides to reboot the unit once again with a veteran, there are several who will be options.

One is a 27-year-old former first-round pick with one playoff win under his belt - Daniel Jones. After being released after Year 2 of a massive deal with the Giants, it was obvious he wasn't the issue in New York.

The Browns aren't the only team with pressing signal caller needs, however, and Pittsburgh could be bidding against teams like the Jets, Steelers, Titans, and Colts. And it's not just for Jones.

Sam Darnold is another option, although he'll carry a hefty price tag after his performance in Minnesota last season. Other possibilities include Kirk Cousins if he's traded or cut from the Atlanta roster, Jimmy Garoppolo, Joe Flacco and Drew Lock.

Cleveland owns the No. 2 pick of the first round in next month's NFL Draft, which could be either Shedeur Sanders or Cam Ward. But even with a rookie, the team might want a veteran in front of them.
