Browns' Shedeur Sanders Sends Strong Message to Fellow Rookie Teammates

Shedeur Sanders is Cleveland Browns 5th round draft pick : NPR

The Cleveland Browns are shaping up to be one of the most intriguing teams heading into the 2025 season, largely due to their crowded quarterback room following the selections of both Dillon Gabriel and Shedeur Sanders in the NFL Draft.

Cleveland currently has Deshaun Watson, who is rehabbing from an Achilles injury, along with veteran Joe Flacco, Kenny Pickett, and now rookies Sanders and Gabriel competing for spots on the depth chart. Early impressions have reportedly been positive, with the organization impressed by both first-year quarterbacks.

Following the conclusion of minicamp on Sunday, Sanders took to social media to deliver a strong message directed at his fellow Browns rookies.

"Thankful for every player apart of our Rookie minicamp," Sanders wrote. "Great relationships was made during our time together."

Sanders slid down the draft board after rumors emerged that he hadn’t interviewed well during the pre-draft process and chose not to participate in the combine.

The growing assumption was that he would be selected early in the first round, but his stock began to fall just days before the draft. Ultimately, he slipped all the way to the fifth round, where the Browns picked him at No. 144 overall.

Still, if the draft has taught us anything, it’s that where you're selected matters less than what you do with the opportunity once you arrive. So far, Sanders has made a strong impression both on and off the field within the Browns organization.

During an interview this week with Browns reporters, Sanders was asked about the message he received from Tom Brady and the comparisons between the two, given that Brady also fell to Day 3 of the draft. Sanders responded confidently, saying, "My story is gonna be similar."
