Browns Urged To Trade For 'Explosive' Packers Receiver

The Cleveland Browns could be looking to upgrade their wideout room ahead of 2025.

The Cleveland Browns attempted to solve their long quarterback problem this offseason, signing veterans Joe Flacco and Kenny Pickett and drafting rookies Dillon Gabriel and Shedeur Sanders.

Which one of those, if any, will pull the Browns out of the proverbial QB gutter remains to be seen. But quarterbacks aside, the Browns have another issue on offense, at wideout.

Heading into the meat of the offseason, Cleveland has 12 receivers on the 90-man roster, including Michael Woods II, Cedric Tillman, Jamari Thrash, Cade McDonald, Gage Larvadain, Kisean Johnson, Diontae Johnson, Jerry Jedudy, Luke Floriea, Kaden Davis, DeAndre Carter and David Bell.

None of those names will strike fear in the eyes of opposing defenses next season, and Jeudy is the presumed No. 1 option.

That's why Mark Sipos of Dawg Pound Daily thinks he knows a potential trade that could help the receivers room, and it's Green Bay Packers wideout Christian Watson.

"When healthy, Watson is one of the most explosive athletes in the league, averaging over 17 yards per catch for his career," Sipos wrote. "With Jayden Reed getting a vote of confidence from the Packers organization, Romeo Doubs continuing to improve, and Matthew Golden and Savion Williams being drafted just this year, Watson is seemingly on the outside looking in."

The issue here is that Watson is rehabbing from a torn ACL last season and will most likely miss a big part of next season. And, the 26-year-old enters his fourth season with 620 yards receiving as his career mark.

The Browns wouldn't want to give up more than a third- or later-round pick for Watson, and then they'd have to be patient.

It's a low-risk move for a guy who will make just short of $3 million in 2025 - a contract year ... but it might also be low-reward.
