The Boston Bruins are looking to bounce back from a poor season last year that saw them miss the playoffs entirely. Boston is still searching for more help, especially on the offensive side of the ice.
One player who could help the Bruins is young center Marco Rossi of the Minnesota Wild. Rossi has been dealing with an ongoing stalemate with the Wild regarding contract negotiations.
This has led to all sorts of trade rumors, and the idea of the Wild moving Rossi has increased over time. NHL writer Michelle Bruton of Bleacher Report urged the Bruins to make a move to land the disgruntled star.
"The Bruins need an injection of talent up the middle, and they have the cap space and future draft picks to put a package together. However, Boston should be wary of allowing the Wild to include any of the young players in its pipeline in trade negotiations.
"For a team toeing the line between a retool and a rebuild, losing young developmental pieces is not a winning strategy," Bruton wrote.
Boston desperately needs some help at the center position, and Rossi could be the injection that this team needs. Rossi is only 23 years old and has proved that he can produce at a high level in the league.
Last season with the Wild, Rossi put up 24 goals and 36 assists over 82 games played. In the postseason, he scored two goals and one assist in six games.
This could be a very solid move for the Bruins to consider, and it may help them take that next step in the Eastern Conference. With the Wild and Rossi not on the same page, a move for the star could be in the cards for a team like Boston.
