Buccaneers' Baker Mayfield 'As Good As Anybody Right Now' Claims Evaluator

The rise of Baker Mayfield with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers has been nothing short of superb, and in truth, it is great to see. Thought to be on his way out of the league prior to the beginning of the 2023 season, Baker won the starting job, and as they say, the rest is history.

Back-to-back Pro Bowls, two division titles, winning a playoff game and coming off the best year of his career, Mayfield is in his bag right now.

Buccaneers' Baker Mayfield 'As Good As Anybody Right Now' Claims Evaluator

And for one personnel evaluator, in Jeremy Fowler's top quarterback rankings piece, they don't think there are too many players in better form than Mayfield.

"Fearless as a thrower and a runner," the NFL personnel evaluator said via ESPN. "He's got on-field leadership where teammates want to support him. Much better arm than given credit for. Good mover in the pocket and can rush for yards. Attacks the third level of the defense. When he's got time [in the pocket], he's as good as almost anybody right now."

Coming off the year Mayfield had, it's tough to argue.

He tied for second in passing touchdowns (41), third in passing yards (4,500) and a career-high completion percentage (71.4).

Now, with Chris Godwin back and the addition of Emeka Egbuka, the weapons at Baker's disposal are better than last season. Yes, Josh Grizzard replaces Liam Coen, but many still feel this Tampa team will be rolling in 2025.

And as for Mayfield, he is playing the quarterback position nearly as good as anyone heading into the new season – but he has to continue it.
