Buccaneers Named as Possible Destination for Veteran Free Agent LB

This offseason, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers have shaken things up on their roster, particularly on defense, with notable newcomers like Haason Reddick and Anthony Walker joining the mix. The team’s sights are set on making a strong push for a fifth straight NFC South championship.

The Buccaneers got a boost last month when popular linebacker Lavonte David opted to return for another season. Despite this, Tampa Bay’s defense still looks to be thin in the middle, leaving room for potential reinforcements.

Buccaneers Named as Possible Destination for Veteran Free Agent LB

With several top-tier free agents still available, the Buccaneers are expected to make a move for a seasoned defender. According to Bleacher Report’s Brad Gagnon, Tampa Bay might pursue former Arizona Cardinals linebacker Kyzir White, potentially adding him to their roster.

White ranks seventh on Gagnon’s free agent list. He recently completed a two-year stint with the Cardinals, where he accumulated 137 tackles, nine tackles for loss, 2.5 sacks, one fumble recovery, three pass deflections, and an interception in 2024.

“With E.J. Speed gone, the Colts have come to a lot of minds. I think he’s more likely to land with a team that is more deeply in the playoff conversation,” Gagnon said. “It’s a toss-up between the Buccaneers and Rams, both of whom need talent in the second level. We’ll go with Tampa because it doesn’t know when Lavonte David might fall off a cliff.”

White has been in the league for seven seasons, starting with his selection by the Los Angeles Chargers in the fourth round of the 2018 NFL Draft. His journey has taken him through four seasons with the Chargers, a single season with the Philadelphia Eagles, and two seasons with the Arizona Cardinals.

At 29, he’s racked up over 100 tackles in three of the last four seasons, making him a potentially savvy addition for the Buccaneers – a low-risk signing with high upside that could further fortify their defense.
