The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have been dealing with injuries throughout the 2024 season. While every team deals with injuries, the Pewter Pirates saw their top two wide receivers go down in one game, Mike Evans and Chris Godwin.
While reports are that Evans (hamstring) could be out until week 13, it wasn’t as good of news for Godwin. Chris Godwin suffered a dislocated ankle late in the fourth quarter against the Ravens. After further evaluation, Godwin needed surgery and by most reports will miss the entire 2024 season.
So Wednesday, the team officially put him on injured reserve.
“In addition, the Buccaneers placed wide receiver Chris Godwin on injured reserve due to the dislocated ankle he sustained on Monday night against Baltimore. Head Coach Todd Bowles indicated on Tuesday that Godwin is expected to miss the remainder of the 2024 season.”
Head coach Todd Bowles spoke about whether or not the team would look to bring in an impact wide receiver to fill the void left by Evans and Godwin’s absence.
“We’ve looked at outside the building, but to get a true No. 1 in here you gotta make a massive trade and give up quite a bit,” Bowles said. “That’s not where we are at this point. We feel comfortable with the guys in the building.”
