Chiefs' Patrick Mahomes reveals how KC plans to rebound

For the second time since 2020, the Kansas City Chiefs are 4-0, as they prepare their Monday night matchup against the New Orleans Saints.

While the team has gotten off to a strong start, a lot of that has been credited to their defense, who have yet to allow over 25 points in a game.

Meanwhile, superstar quarterback Patrick Mahomes has had a career-worst start to the season, as he has thrown six touchdowns and five interceptions through four games. Mahomes also has yet to throw over 300 passing yards in a game.

Heading into Week 5, offensive coordinator Matt Nagy spoke about the new approach that the team wants Mahomes to take to improve his play.

“Staying calm and going back the basics," Nagy said. "There’s a lot of things that happen within one play, whether it’s a protection, whether it's a throw or whether it’s a wrong route that happens on an interception. So, just understanding that part of it and then resetting and using that next-play mentality."

Mahomes is often known for making flashy plays that no other player in the league can make. However, now it seems as though the team wants him to dial it back and focus more on simply making the right play.

While the league will likely be upset to see fewer highlight-worthy plays from Mahomes, the Chiefs could certainly benefit from prioritizing production over flash. Regardless, the team has to feel pretty confident after starting undefeated while Mahomes has not looked like himself.
