Head coach Andy Reid has created a near dynasty with the Kansas City Chiefs over the past decade, riding the success of quarterback Patrick Mahomes.
The Chiefs entered the NFL season looking to become the first team in league history to win three straight Super Bowl titles.
After punching their ticket to their third consecutive Super Bowl while winning their fifth AFC Championship Game over the past six years, the dynasty was halted.
Kansas City suffered a 40-22 blowout loss to the Philadelphia Eagles in Super Bowl LIX, capping off their season with a 17-3 record, including the postseason.
Following the Super Bowl blowout, the Chiefs are "expected" to make a coaching staff move by hiring Matt House as the team's senior defensive assistant, per Matt Zenitz.
House has extensive experience in the coaching realm, both at the collegiate and professional levels.
House has worked with the Carolina Panthers as special teams assistant coach/assistant strength and conditioning coach (2008), the St. Louis Rams (2009-2011) as defensive quality control coach and the Kansas City Chiefs (2019-2021) as linebackers coach. He then left the NFL for a defensive coordinator position for the LSU Tigers (2022-2023before going back to the pro-league as Jacksonville Jaguars' linebackers coach (2024).
The Chiefs are now headed back to the drawing board, looking to win their fourth Super Bowl of the Patrick Mahomes era in Kansas City.
