Chiefs Have Weapon That Could 'Compensate' Potential Travis Kelce Loss

The Kansas City Chiefs eagerly await the decision on tight end Travis Kelce and whether or not he wants to play in 2025.

With the 35-year-old given until March 14 to decide, his brother, Jason, has stated that he believes the tight end in his heart, already knows his plans in 2025.

Chiefs Have Weapon That Could 'Compensate' Potential Travis Kelce Loss

As for the Chiefs, losing Kelce would be a big blow, and while he wasn't the dominant tight end we've come to know this past season, totaling 823 yards and three touchdowns from 97 receptions, this is still good production.

But if the Chiefs are worried about losing Kelce, ESPN's Mina Kimes thinks the franchise already has a weapon on the roster that could soften the blow of Kelce potentially departing.

"I think it's a big loss. I also think, though, getting Rashee Rice, depending on his health, might compensate for that in some ways," Kimes said on The Mina Kimes Show. "I think the loss of Rashee Rice was kind of slept on."

Hmm, that's an interesting thought.

Rice, who only managed four games due to a knee injury against the Los Angeles Chargers, was in good form prior to that, having 288 yards and two touchdowns while averaging 71 receiving yards per game.

In his rookie season, Rice managed 938 yards and seven touchdowns as he and Patrick Mahomes developed quite the wavelength from the outset.

Now, if Kelce does move on, that will leave a big hole in the Chiefs' passing game, but is Rice's impending return enough to fill that void?

Chiefs Kingdom will hope that they won't have to find out.
