The Kansas City Chiefs might be just a few weeks away from embarking on a quest to win their third consecutive Super Bowl, but that won't stop Brett Veach and the front office from looking forward to the 2025 NFL Draft.
Kansas City is still lacking in weapons for Patrick Mahomes, and their succession plan for Travis Kelce could use an upgrade. The offensive tackle spot continues to be a problem, and one more defensive lineman in the mix couldn't hurt things.
The Chiefs already have cracked the NFL code as they continue to pile up the championships, but they need to keep reinforcing their talent to stay strong. Following this line of logic in the 2025 Draft could keep them atop the NFL pyramid.
Kansas City Chiefs 3-round 2025 NFL Mock Draft
Round 1, Pick 31: Tyler Warren, TE, Penn State
Even with Noah Gray's extension, the Chiefs could stand to add a tight end with a higher ceiling. As good as Travis Kelce is, he is on the back nine of his career. The Chiefs would be wise to spend one of their top picks in a very promising tight end class on a player like Warren who can start immediately in the pros.
Warren, who is fighting with Michigan's Colston Loveland for the TE1 title, has nearly 1,000 yards receiving for the Nittany Lions this year. The 6-6, 260-pound dynamo is so electric that he has four rushing touchdowns to go along with his sublime pass catching. His blocking isn't very good, but Kelce carved out a Hall of Fame career without being a high-end blocker.
Round 2, Pick 63: Xavier Restrepo, WR, Miami
While some will be quick to write off the fifth-year senior's breakout season as the product of playing alongside possible No. 1 overall quarterback Cam Ward, he has shown more than enough as both a reliable underneath threat and improved vertical field-stretcher to warrant a pick this high.
While his speed is average, and his skinny build could give some pause for thought, Restrepo has been a consistent separator in his college career and a lethal playmaker when he gets the ball in his hands. If Matt Nagy's offense remains in place in 2024, Restrepo could fit it quite well.
Round 3, Pick 69: Josh Conerly Jr, OT, Oregon
The Wanya Morris nightmare on Black Friday and second-round pick Kingsley Suamataia's struggles illustrated just how dire the need for quality offensive tackle play is for Kansas City. Conerly is the perfect developmental Day 2 prospect for Kansas City to work with in 2025.
While he may need to add some weight and figure out how to better handle powerful edge rushers, Conerly stands out as one of the best athletes in the class thanks to his tremendous footwork for a tackle. At some point, Conerly will be a starter in the pros.
Round 3, Pick 95: Nazir Stackhouse, DT, Georgia
Using a Top-100 pick on a player who has questions about his motor and minimal pass rush upside could be a bit of a head-scratcher, but the Chiefs have enough equity built up to take a shot on Stackhouse, who profiles as a quality early-down run-stuffer.
Stackhouse has tremendous power, and his size makes him someone who can fit in multiple defensive line alignments on the interior. The Chiefs need a player to fill a specific role on this defensive line, and Stackhouse will provide that while they work on the rest of his style of play.
