Chris Lopez says his baby mama Kail Lowry has taken out a new protective order against him, while also claiming that his custody court battle with the Teen Mom 2 star recently saw his time with their sons Lux and Creed dramatically reduced.
In a series of Instagram Stories posted on Thursday that tore into Kail, her fiancé Elijah Scott and the Delaware family court system, Chris made more serious accusations, while also clarifying his previous posts, which claimed that Kail tried to throw away their kids’ Christmas presents from him, and more.
Chris accused Kail of “lying, hypocrisy” and “manipulation” of the system, but also pointed his frustration at the family court system, particularly in a county that he claims Kail prefers to have their hearings in, due to it allegedly favoring mothers over fathers. Chris also accused Kail of lying about her income, restricting his phone access to Lux and Creed and much more.
Here, The Ashley breaks down the claims Chris is making about Kail and their court battle, which he revealed recently resulted in him losing custody time with the kids and dealing with a new PFA (Protection From Abuse) order that Kail recently filed against him. (To clarify: this is a new PFA and not the one Kail filed on Chris back in 2019, which, in his new post he admitted that Kail was justified in filing.)
On the new PFA Kail recently filed:
Chris reported that there is now a PFA order against him, which he claims was filed by Kail after a recent incident in which Chris grabbed Kail’s phone.
“[The] order was ordered against me despite no evidence of a pattern of abuse,” Chris insisted, though he did admit to taking Kail’s phone. “The claim was based on an incident where I took a phone, returned it and caused no harm.”
Chris stated that Kail has participated in the “ongoing harassment” of him— something he claims to have evidence of— but the court didn’t take it into consideration.
As ‘Teen Mom 2’ fans know, Chris was arrested in 2019 for violence against Kail. The ‘Teen Mom 2’ star took out a PFA against Chris at that time, and he was arrested in 2020 for violating it. In the years since, Kail has spoken out about the violence she endured at Chris’ hand, stating that Chris allegedly tried to choke and kill her. (Chris denied trying to kill Kail but did admit to choking her and getting physically violent with her.)
During his Instagram rant on Thursday, Chris admitted that he did, indeed, deserve to have a PFA taken out against him for that incident.
“I’ve always been open and honest about the PFA that was granted against me in New Castle County in 2019,” he wrote. “That ruling was based on actual abuse and, though I’m not proud of it, I owned up to my actions. It was a very dark time in my life, involving a toxic relationship with a very negative person. I took responsibility for what I did and I accepted that the PFA was warranted. I made mistakes and I faced the consequences for them.”
Chris claimed the recent incident with the phone was “entirely different.”
“There’s no evidence of abuse, no pattern of harmful behavior,” he wrote. “…yet a PFA was still granted against me. How does that warrant the same level of protection as actual abuse [I caused previously]. Where is the fairness in that?”
“The system is supposed to protect people from genuine harm, not weaponize PFAs against fathers trying to stay involved in their childrens’ lives,” he continued, adding that the PFA has hindered his time with the kids.
“…The Kent County Family Court system has failed to distinguish between actual abuse and baseless claims, and that failure is damaging to both me and my children,” Chris added.
On Kail not allowing his to speak to his kids:
In one post, Chris stated that Kail and Elijah do not allow Lux and Creed to speak freely to him.
“My kids were in Spain [with Kail] for Thanksgiving. I still called them,” Chris wrote. “An individual hung up our conversation because I told my kids they are allowed to talk to me and if [Kail and Elijah] are telling you no, they are wrong. Because my son told me he’s asked to call me in the past and they say no.”
In another post, Chris stated that his phone time with the kids was reduced at the most-recent court hearing.
“I went from being able to talk to my children almost daily to being restricted to just once a week for 30 minutes between 6 p.m. and 6:30 p.m.” Chris wrote.
On his time with Lux & Creed being reduced:
Chris claimed that a judge in Kent County, Delaware (which Chris stated Kail prefers to deal with over nearby New Castle County, due to Kent’s alleged bias towards mothers in family court cases) recently reduced his parenting time.
“New Castle Family Court had given me a fair and just hearing, granting me parenting time during the school year from Thursday after school to Sunday at 5 p.m.” Chris wrote. “Kent County reduced that time to Fridays at 6 p.m. to Sunday 6 p.m.”
Chris stated that the reduction in parenting was blamed on the kids having attendance issues while in his care, something he denied.
“In fact the mother has had more absences during her time in the last two years than I have. Yet I’m the one being penalized? How is that fair?” Chris wrote.
On Kail reportedly lying about her income in regard to child support:
Chris also made a serious accusation that Kail once lied about how much money she brought in so that she could get child support from Chris.
“I was kept away from my child and then put on child support — despite the significant disparity in income between myself and my child’s mother,” he wrote. “She even lied about her income during the process.”
(Although Chris didn’t provide a timeline as to when this act allegedly occurred, it appears that it was before Creed’s birth in 2020, as Chris only talks about having a singular child with Kail. At that time, Kail was still making a hefty paycheck for appearing on ‘Teen Mom 2.’)
“I still signed the agreement because I wanted to see my child and felt I had no other option,” Chris wrote of the child support agreement.
Chris stated that Kail later tried to remove him from paying child support, but the courts wouldn’t allow it.
“Now, she continues to use the fact that I’m on child support as a form of control,” Chris claimed. “But there’s no accountability or recognition of her contradictions in court.”
On his previous claim that Kail tried to throw away their kids’ Christmas presents:
During a previous Instagram rant, Chris claimed that Kail attempted to throw away the presents Lux and Creed got from him for Christmas.
“Never be so miserable that after not seeing or speaking to your children in 17 days the first thing you do is try to throw away their Christmas presents in front of a police officer and kids,” Chris wrote on Instagram last week.
When Kail was asked about this alleged incident in a comment on one of her recent Instagram posts, she denied there was any truth to Chris’ claim.
“Why did you try to throw away your kids Christmas gifts?” one person wrote.
“I would never do something like that,” Kail replied.
During the latest rant, Chris gave more details about the alleged event, which apparently did not actually include Kail trying to trash the gifts, as he previously stated.
“If I didn’t run back outside she most definitely would of never took the boys’ stuff they got for Christmas because she dug through the bag took out my sons’ jackets and tried to tell the officer to take the rest of the stuff,” Chris wrote.
Kail has yet to respond to Chris’ latest claims.
