Craig Conover admits that a long-distance relationship comes with a unique set of challenges; however, he’s happy to work through those issues for the “right person.”
The Southern Charm-er explained his position in a recent interview with Page Six while providing an update on his relationship with Paige DeSorbo. Craig confirmed he and his Summer House girlfriend were still living in Charleston, South Carolina, and New York City, respectively, but managed to see each other on a regular basis.
“I think a lot of people, when they hear long-distance, they think that it means that we don’t — well, I guess that in a traditional long-distance relationship, you don’t see each other a lot,” he explained. “But Paige and I basically live together, and we just live in two different places.”
The Delaware native said he and his girlfriend have established a pretty consistent living situation, as they typically spend most of the spring in Charleston and the bulk of the summer in the Big Apple.
“A lot of times, I just stay at her apartment when she goes out to the Hamptons,” Craig said about his NYC trips. “We were just in Charleston for a couple of weeks for my brother’s wedding and then the holidays, we get to spend with family… She does say that she sees me more than she saw some boyfriends that lived in New York City because of the commute.”
Although he couldn't say when he and Paige would move in together full-time, Craig insisted they had a similar vision for their future.
“We just have a common goal. One day we want to get married and have a family,” he explained before touching on their busy work schedules. “We’re just in a unique spot that we’ve embraced of being like, ‘We’re two very career-driven people. We both love where we live and we don’t know what’s coming next, but we’d rather go through those challenges with the right person than just with the wrong person… It’s one day at a time.”
Since they began dating in 2021, Craig and Paige have made impressive strides in their careers. The Southern Charm-er has significantly expanded his Sewing Down South brand, while Paige has made huge waves within the podcasting and publishing realms. The couple also previously teamed up on two pillow collections for Sewing Down South and may have more collaborations down the road.
“It’s neat to be able to root for each other,” Craig said about the career wins. “And that doesn’t mean it’s not difficult, sometimes. I think we’re in a fortunate place that we love being together, but that doesn’t mean that the challenges of being apart is something that we’re figuring out. Like, no one knows what they’re doing.”
Paige made similar comments in several interviews throughout the past year, revealing why she enjoyed living between Manhattan and Charleston.
“I love to cosplay as a rich southern woman,” she joked in a July interview with The Daily Dish. “I’m like, ‘Sorry, I’m just gonna fly up to my New York City apartment, and then I’ll be back down.’ I am very into living in two places.”
