On Episode 13 of Southern Charm, viewers learned that Craig's fallout with Austen Kroll was in connection to his addiction to alcohol, which was a reason why he distanced himself from his friend when it came to going out. In Episode 14, Craig opens up about his and Austen breakthrough in a conversation with Paige. However, he also reveals how his excessive drinking almost caused the couple to split much earlier.
Craig Conover Admitted That Paige DeSorbo "Was Pretty Much Done" With Him After Seeing How Alcohol Affected Their Relationship
In Southern Charm Season 10, Episode 13, Craig Conover reached a breakthrough with long-time friend Austen Kroll when, during a trip to the Bahamas, he admitted that he struggled with an addiction to alcohol. It was Craig's admission that finally saw Austen realizing why they weren't hanging out as much as before, with Craig trying to stay away from alcohol and bars as much as possible to live a healthier lifestyle.
"I got to my bottom when I could just see on Paige’s face, [she] just had this look of, like, I wasn’t the guy she had seen herself marrying, and so, Paige was pretty much done."
During the time when Craig would drink excessively, he admitted that he would "take it too far," while Paige admitted to remaining silent on the matter "so many times." However, she began seeing a breakthrough of her own with Craig as he wanted to change to be a better man for her.
“It wasn’t until almost losing Paige, for me, to change my behaviors. Paige was my rock," he said in a confessional.
"I'll always be grateful that I didn't lose you when I hit my bottom," he told Paige.

Craig Remained Silent On Paige Cheating Rumors After She Had Helped Him With His Addiction To Alcohol

Craig praised Paige for remaining by his side as he worked through his addiction to alcohol. However, after they broke up, it was interesting that Craig did not want to defend her in any way, shape or form when reports suggested that she had cheated on him.
After Paige announced their split on her Giggly Squad podcast in December 2024, she was seen attending an NFL game with a mystery man the following month. It forced Paige to clarify on another episode of her podcast that she had not cheated on Craig after the latter decided not to defend her against the ongoing rumors.
"Since no one’s sticking up for me on the other side … I will say that Craig and I broke up Thanksgiving weekend. OK? That’s at the end of November .... "Let me say this here and now, I did not move on with some new guy. I am single. I don’t have a new boyfriend. I did not cheat on my ex-boyfriend," she shared in a February podcast episode.
When Craig appeared on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen to do his first interview since their split, he shared that he "didn't want to be involved" with regards to the cheating accusations, adding, "I got broken up with, I’m the ex-boyfriend now moving on with my life."
However, during an appearance on the Tamron Hall Show in February, Craig sort of defended his ex, when he stated that he was "disappointed" that Paige received "a lot of backlash for the breakup."
