Craig Conover Fires Back at Critics: ‘Tearing Others Down Won’t Get You Far’

Craig Conover is letting the world know he has no time for negativity.

Craig Conover Felt "Submissive" in Relationship with Paige

On Monday, March 10, the Southern Charm cast member took to Instagram to share a few words of wisdom for those seeking self-improvement. Craig reminded his followers to be mindful about who they surround themselves with, as pessimism, constant scrutiny, and general toxicity can often hinder personal growth.

“Daily tip: Surround yourself with those who inspire you, not those who tear you down,” he captioned a post-workout selfie. “Your only competition is who you were last week. Focus on beating that person.”

It’s unclear what prompted the inspirational PSA, but it seems Craig has maintained an optimistic outlook while navigating major life changes. It was just several months ago when the Delaware native addressed his split from Summer House’s Paige DeSorbo, whom he started dating in 2021.

“I think I’m just working through it,” he said during the February 6 episode of Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen. “I was very sad, obviously, and I’ve been very fortunate to be around friends and family and just trying to go through the stages as well as possible… I went through denial and then fixing or trying to fix it, then sad, and then I hit anger for a little bit, and now I’m kind of getting excited for the future as much as I can.”

Since then, Craig has continued to focus on his ever-growing business empire and physical wellness. The Sewing Down South founder regularly posts photos and videos from his workout sessions and offers encouraging advice for those looking to get in shape.

On Tuesday, March 11, Craig returned to the ’Gram to shed more light on his fitness journey and finding a gym that helped him succeed.

“This is the gym, CD Fit, that made me comfortable enough to go back to the gym after not working out for a while when I was too shy,” he said in a video. “That was about two years ago, and I’m grateful for that… Gyms aren’t intimidating; it’s all in your head. Also, if you’re a heavyset person or out of shape and you’re in the gym, everyone around you is saying, ‘Hell yeah’… high-fiving you in their head. They just don’t want to come up and say anything, but everyone is rooting for everyone in the gym. It’s the greatest place. Step out of your comfort zone.”

He continued: “Keep going, keep pushing. And if you need help or any advice, just ask someone…. You won’t find anyone tearing each other down.”
