Crystal Kung Minkoff has a blunt opinion about Kyle Richards’ place on Real Housewives of Beverly Hills. And now that Crystal is out of Bravo’s employ, perhaps she feels more emboldened to speak her mind.
Fans and Bravolebrities were equally shocked when Bravo let Crystal go. No one was more devastated than Crystal herself. As for Kyle, she had mixed feelings. Some viewers could argue Crystal didn’t have much in the way of storylines. In a similar vein, some might say she was just too normal to be on Housewives.
Nevertheless, Crystal had her fans, especially after Season 13. In a season that fans felt focused way too much on Kyle, Crystal offered many breaths of fresh air. Now, Crystal will have to make her offerings off the air.
Crystal Kung Minkoff compares Kyle Richards to a sorority president
Crystal recently appeared on the October 17 episode of The Viall Files. Real Housewives of Beverly Hills naturally came up as a talking point. While discussing the show, Crystal shared a revelation that feels both surprising and unsurprising. “When I started the show, I was told by the girls, ‘This is Kyle’s show,’” she said. “They let you know.”
One of the podcast’s cohosts understood that notion. They said, when thinking of RHOBH, Kyle was the first person to come to mind. Crystal continued, “It’s a sorority, I was being hazed, and she’s like, the queen, the den mother, whatever. Yeah, the president. And she’ll always be president.” She added, “It’s her show.”
Arguably, the strongest Housewives shows are those where the cast truly feels like an ensemble. One might even argue that the intense focus on Kyle in RHOBH Season 13 hurt the show in the long run. And, for some reason, Bravo thought letting Crystal go would help the ensemble dynamic? Well, no one can say for sure. We can only hope RHOBH learned a lesson.
Real Housewives of Beverly Hills is streaming on Peacock.
