Report: Jets are at top of trade 'wish list' for Raiders' Davante Adams - Yahoo Sports

Wide receiver Davante Adams never delivered on the promise of hope he brought with him to the Las Vegas Raiders franchise after it acquired him from the Green Bay Packers via a trade in March 2022.

Las Vegas has cycled through a handful of quarterbacks in the two and a half years since, changed head coaches and amassed a total regular-season record of 16-24 without a trip the playoffs.

All-in-all, the experiment can't be viewed as anything except an abject failure, particularly because the Raiders paid Adams $140 million over five years -- a contract that briefly made him the highest-paid wideout in NFL history.

Las Vegas decided to bail on the Adams era by trading him to the New York Jets on Tuesday, Oct. 15, in exchange for a conditional third-round draft pick in 2025 that can become a second-round pick based on how well Adams and/or the Jets play to finish out the season/postseason.

One day later, Adams spoke to reporters in New York and contended that both he and the Raiders organization are "better off" following the trade.

"It’s been a rollercoaster for sure," Adams said, per X video of his press conference shared by the SNY Jets account. "It’s a weird thing to say, that I’m happy, but obviously it was time for a change. This whole thing kind of transpired a little weird, but at the end of the day we’re in a better place. I think the Raiders are in a better place as well. Everybody can kind of move on."

Adams is now reunited with his long-time Packers quarterback and friend Aaron Rodgers. The Jets (2-4) take on the Pittsburgh Steelers on Sunday Night Football in Week 7, and the team has indicated that Adams will play in that contest.

The Raiders (2-4) head to Southern California this Sunday to take on the Los Angeles Rams.
