Rumors surrounding Davante Adams and talks of him being traded away from the Las Vegas Raiders are ramping up.
According to Kay Adams, the star wide receiver will not be on her show Up And Adams on Tuesday as originally scheduled. The NFL analyst shed some light as to why the Raiders standout isn’t able to make his appearance.
“Oh boy – lots happening at the moment with our guy Adams … he won’t be on TOMORROW. Sorry bout that and stay tuned,” she wrote.
On Monday, ESPN’s Adam Schefter named the New York Jets and New Orleans Saints as the two most likely landing spots for Adams.
“It’s been those two teams, I think it will consistently be those two teams,” Schefter said. “… That doesn’t preclude a team like the Bills, or the Steelers, or the Ravens from monitoring the situation just to see what else could happen. But you’re going to need Davante Adams’ cooperation if you’re trading a second-round pick to that team to restructure his contract. He’s going to want to have to be willing.”
Schefter continued, explaining the significance of Adams’ current contract in which team he winds up being traded to. Having two years remaining on his current deal with Las Vegas and serving as a $13.526 million cap hit for whichever team trades for him, which drops $968,000 each week that he remains on the Raiders.
If Schefters report is true, it appears as though Adams may be reunited with one of his two former quarterbacks in either Aaron Rodgers in New York or Derek Carr in New Orleans. Whether a deal gets done as early as Tuesday, however, remains to be seen.
Adams has recorded five straight 1,000-yard receiving seasons, and it’s looking increasingly likely he’ll try and continue that effort with a new franchise. Until then, he’s a Las Vegas Raider for perhaps at least the next couple of weeks.
