New Cleveland Browns quarterback Shedeur Sanders might have some cleaning up to do with one of his new teammates over video that emerged from his draft party.
Video emerged from Sanders’ draft party of Deion Sanders making a blunt comment about Browns QB Joe Flacco. The video, apparently from the first round on Thursday night, took place long before Cleveland ultimately selected Sanders in the fifth round of the draft.
Deion and Shedeur are heard in the video discussing how the Browns have Flacco at quarterback, prompting a ruthless comment from Deion.
“Flacco’s my age,” Deion said.
Deion Sanders does go on to say that he likes Flacco, but that was not the remark that got all the attention.
Flacco is not quite Sanders’ age. Deion turned 57 last August, while Flacco celebrated his 40th birthday in January. That does still make Flacco the oldest quarterback in the NFL who is currently rostered, though Aaron Rodgers will beat him by just over a year if and when he joins a team.
Sanders’ comment certainly had the feel of a slight, even if he was just being honest. Flacco is not a long-term proposition for the Browns, but Shedeur Sanders could be. It might make for an awkward moment once Shedeur and Flacco get to cross paths, though.
Deion has not necessarily been complementary of the Browns in the past. Perhaps that will change now.
