Denver Broncos get precisely the news they don't want to hear about their biggest 2025 NFL free agent signing | Yardbarker

The Denver Broncos took a risk when they signed former San Francisco 49ers LB Dre Greenlaw, and they're already getting the type of news they don't want to hear.

Greenlaw has a lengthy injury history during his time in the NFL. In 2020, he missed two games with a quad injury. In 2021, he missed 14 games with a groin injury. He missed a single game in each of 2022 and 2023 with calf and hamstring strains. Then, in February of 2024, he suffered an Achilles injury that saw him appear in just two games during the 2024 NFL season.

The injury bug has struck Greenlaw again. According to multiple reports, Greenlaw suffered a quad injury while working out.

There are conflicting reports on the injury and its severity at this time. NBC Sports San Francisco reporter Jennifer Lee Chan reports that Greenlaw suffered a "serious quad injury" and could miss substantial time due to the injury.

Denver Post reporter Parker J. Gabriel reports that a source close to the situation calls the injury a quad strain. The injury shouldn't keep him out for an extended period, but it could cost him OTAs and perhaps mandatory minicamp. Gabriel says that the regular season is not expected to be in jeopardy now.

The Broncos signed Greenlaw to a 3-year, $35M deal in March. Denver did not select any off-ball linebackers in the 2025 NFL Draft, but according to Broncos Wire's Jon Heath, Denver signed Utah LB Karene Reid and Kansas LB J.B. Brown as undrafted free agents.
