The Denver Broncos have found a way to put together an incredible coaching staff after having one of the worst staff we have ever seen under Nathaniel Hackett, whom we thought set this franchise back years and years. Well, with Sean Payton, in their second year rebuilding, they made the postseason, something they hadn't done since the 2015 season when they won the Super Bowl against the Carolina Panthers.
Part of the staff they have assembled includes tight ends coach Declan Doyle, who was a hot name during this most recent coaching cycle. When Ben Johnson took the Chicago Bears head coach job, he needed an offensive coordinator. He immediately looked at a disciple of Sean Payton.
Bears are hiring Broncos' Declan Doyle
On Sunday, it was announced that Johnson and the Bears would be hiring Doyle as their offensive coordinator, which can be described as a pretty good move when you think about the fact that Ben Johnson is calling the plays.
Declan Doyle kicked off his NFL coaching career in 2019 with the New Orleans Saints, serving as an offensive assistant for more than four years. He then moved to the Denver Broncos in 2023, following Sean Payton, who became head coach after Nathaniel Hackett's departure, which left the team in disarray. At the Broncos, Doyle has notably impacted the development of tight ends Adam Trautman and Lucas Krull.
However, the Broncos have struggled with their tight end lineup. Under Doyle's guidance, Trautman achieved a personal best in touchdown receptions, and Krull scored his first career touchdown during the 2023 season.
Doyle brings a wealth of experience to the table, and despite the Broncos not having an elite tight end room over the last couple of years, he has significantly improved the players at his disposal. If he secures the position with the Bears, the Broncos would certainly lose a valuable coach.
