Denver Broncos Trade Pitch Sends Haul to Browns for Myles Garrett

The Denver Broncos made enough strides in 2024 to be the type of team that star defensive end Myles Garrett would want to join amid his trade request with the Cleveland Browns on Monday.

Sean Payton Comments on Broncos' Plan for Browns DE Myles Garrett

Garrett made an official statement regarding his trade wishes after eight stellar seasons in Cleveland. A six-time Pro Bowler and four-time first-team All-Pro, Garrett has terrorized opposing offenses for nearly a decade amid 102.5 sacks, 352 tackles, and 20 forced fumbles in his career.

Denver could bolster its defense with Garrett, who should be highly sought after among the league's 30 other teams.

In this proposed trade, the Broncos could send the No. 20 pick in the draft along with a second-round pick at No. 51, a third-round pick at No. 121, and second-string defensive end Eyioma Uwazurike.

Based on Over The Cap's trade calculator, this deal would ultimately favor Denver.

With only 12 games in his three-year career, the Broncos could part with Uwazurike. Adding Garrett would give the Broncos a forceful front with defensive ends Zach Allen and John Franklin-Myers.

Denver could either play four defensive linemen up front at times or rotate the three. Allen and Myers combined for 15.5 sacks in 2024, in addition to 23.5 combined by linebackers Nik Bonitto and Jonathon Cooper.

Affording Garrett would be the biggest question for the Broncos, as the defensive front isn't the most significant area of concern. Denver has $34.77 million in salary cap space, but Garrett has a massive contract of $125 million over five years with two seasons left plus five more voided years on the deal.

The Broncos would have to weigh the cost of Garrett versus spending to fill other needs such as wide receiver, tight end, and running back in an effort to build a Super Bowl contender.
