Hayley Erbert Congratulates Derek Hough for Landing Job as ‘Extra’ Host
On August 13, Hough was announced as the new host of “Extra.” The show’s Instagram account posted a video, noting, “Breaking News @derekhough is your new #ExtraTV Host!”
In the video, Hough sits in the ‘Extra’ host’s chair and grabs a microphone, ready to get started at his new post.
Hough’s “Extra” hosting debut is September 8. He replaces host Billy Bush, who is leaving the show.
“The ballroom has been my stage, my home, and my launchpad,” Hough shared in a statement. “Now, I’m stepping into an exciting new spotlight as the host of ‘Extra.'”
He continued, “I’m truly looking forward to collaborating with this incredible team, diving into this next creative chapter, and connecting with fans and audiences in a whole new way. It’s an honor to join a show that’s been a cornerstone of entertainment news for over 30 years — and I’m ready to help lead it into a bold, fresh new era for Season 32 and beyond.”
On August 13, Erbert reposted Hough’s announcement on her Instagram Stories and shared a sweet note of congratulations.
“Exciting new chapter,” she wrote, including a heart on fire emoji. “So proud of you my love.”
