Derek & Julianne Hough’s Tour: Everything We Know So Far

Ever since Julianne Hough and her brother Derek Hough announced that they were creating a dance tour, fans have been clamoring to learn more. Would it be similar to their work on “Dancing With the Stars?” Would it be beginner-friendly?

Derek Hough and Julianne Hough

The brother-sister duo appeared on “ABC News” on August 11 and discussed more details, such as what “day one” would be like, how the competition works, and what makes Ovation so groundbreaking.

A Sneak Peek into the Ultimate Dance Experience

“It’s one of a kind, we are merging the two worlds of ballroom and Latin, which is obviously what everybody knows and probably has seen us on with ‘Dancing With the Stars,'” Julianne told “ABC News” about Ovation. “And the traditional convention space, which is contemporary, jazz, hip hop, Broadway, and we’re bridging those two worlds together to create the convention and competition that hasn’t existed before.”

Then Derek went on to give a glimpse into what the convention’s schedule will look like.

“Night one, we’re going to have a show, a full-production show. We perform with other dancers, and it’s going to be, you know, lights, you know, music, everything.”

“Then the second day is going to be classes, workshops with choreographers and coaches that, you know, are…”

“Best in the world,” Julianne finished.

“Amazing,” Derek added.

“You know, Robbie Blue, who right now has choreographed for Doechii and her tours and her music videos,” Derek continued. “And Tate McCrae. Talia Favia, an amazing contemporary choreographer and teacher. Mark Ballas, Val [Chmerkovskiy], and Jenna [Johnson] from ‘Dancing With the Stars.'”

Fans Wonder Who is Returning For ‘Dancing With the Stars’

Along with the fantastic talent they have teaching, Derek also explained that attendees will have the opportunity to engage with those teachers. And then he discussed the topic many are curious about: competitions.

“You compete with your studios, your jazz routines, your contemporary routines, but also have an opportunity to compete in ballroom and Latin as well, if that’s something you’re interested in doing, as well,” he said. “It’s a full, 360 experience where we’re on TV performing, but now we’re going to be in the room with you.”

“The competition world is incredible,” he added. “These dancers are amazing. So we want to create a new experience for them to thrive and to learn.”

While it’s great to hear that Mark, Val, and Jenna will all be teachers for Ovation, fans have been waiting to hear who will be returning for Season 34 of “Dancing With the Stars.” After Mark Ballas posted a video showing him and Jenna dancing together, many are holding out hope that he’s coming back. With the premiere date set for September 16, hopefully, our curiosity will be quenched soon.
