Charles is a 66-year-old retired financial analyst from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Charles had a difficult time dealing with the sudden loss of his wife of 36 years due to a brain aneurysm six years ago. She was his first and only love.

During The Golden Bachelorette season 1 episode 2 '80s prom group date, he opened up to Joan about his grief. He told her that he's been very sad, but a year or two ago, his two daughters tried to help him by telling him that it was okay to be sad, but not for the rest of his life. Joan could relate to him because she lost her husband. Charles later said in his confessional that the prom was the happiest day of his life since his wife passed away.

Joan Doesn't Choose Charles In The End

Although Joan and Charles have been forming a strong connection, she doesn't choose him in the end. In an Instagram post, Reality Steve revealed that Joan chose Chock, but he doesn't know if they got engaged. In addition, Charles didn't make it to Joan's hometown dates, as Reality Steve has revealed her final four men to be Chock, Guy Gansert, Pascal Ibgui, and Jordan Heller. Joan eliminated Jordan after her hometown dates.

After that, Joan traveled to Tahiti for her Fantasy Suite dates with Chock, Guy, and Pascal. Reality Steve reported that Pascal eliminated himself because he wasn't in love with Joan. However, Reality Steve didn't know if this happened at the final two or the final three. In the end, Joan chose Chock. It's not yet known when Joan said goodbye to Charles.

The Golden Bachelorette contestant Charles is one of the most genuine people ever to appear on a Bachelor franchise show. It's inspiring to see him opening himself up to life and love again after losing his beloved wife. Although it's disappointing to hear that Joan and Charles didn't find love with each other, it's fantastic to know that Joan found her happily ever after with Chock. Hopefully, Charles can do the same as the star of The Golden Bachelor season 2.

The Golden Bachelorette airs Wednesdays at 8 p.m. EDT on ABC.
