Two teams with a top-three pick in the 2025 NFL Draft want to get to know Colorado quarterback Shedeur Sanders.
In a Tuesday video posted on Well Off Media — his older brother Deion Sanders Jr.'s YouTube channel — the quarterback said his first two top-30 visits will be with the Cleveland Browns and the New York Giants. The Browns have the second overall pick in the draft, while the Giants select third.
Each NFL team can interview 30 prospects after the 2025 NFL Scouting Combine, scheduled for Feb. 24-March 3 in Indianapolis. The draft is slated for April 24-26 in Green Bay.
Both franchises could use a promising QB like Shedeur Sanders.
In January, Browns starting quarterback Deshaun Watson underwent a second surgery on his Achilles. He initially tore his Achilles during Week 7 of the 2024 season. Watson's team told ESPN that "he will likely miss significant time during the 2025 season."
Even if Watson hadn't suffered the injury, the Browns probably would've brought in competition. In seven games in 2024, he posted a woeful 23.4 QBR.
The Giants, meanwhile, granted QB Daniel Jones' request to be released after he went 2-8 in 10 starts and was benched in favor of Tommy DeVito.
Does that mean either QB-needy club is guaranteed to pick Shedeur Sanders? Not necessarily. Although he threw 37 TD passes in 13 starts in 2024, the 23-year-old may not be a generational prospect.
Per CBS Sports' Matt Zenitz, a college scouting director has concerns about Shedeur Sanders' "physical skill set translating, average size [6-foot-2, 215 pounds] and average athleticism and that he doesn't have high-end arm talent."
The Browns and Giants could also be interested in Miami QB Cam Ward (6-foot-2, 223 pounds) if the Tennessee Titans pass on him with the No. 1 pick. In 13 starts in 2024, Ward threw 39 TD passes.
Still, if Shedeur Sanders makes a strong impression during interviews with both teams, that could increase his chances of being a top-three pick.
