“Dancing With the Stars” fans are wondering if there should be two seasons of the show — which is how it once was. Back in the day, ABC would air both a spring season and a fall season of the dance competition show. That scheduled changed for a number of reasons, one of them being the expansion of “The Bachelor” series.
However, on February 7, Deadline reported that the network has decided to pause “The Bachelorette” for an unspecified amount of time. With the show’s future seemingly in limbo, this could open up the potential for two seasons of DWTS to air each year.
Fans Discussed the Possibility of Having 2 DWTS Seasons Each Year on Reddit
After the “Bachelorette” news broke, dozens of fans took to Reddit to discuss whether or not they’d like to see a second season of DWTS added back in.
“Two Seasons please and two nights Performance and Results Show which included an Encore of the best dance the night previous. Given this supposed ‘surge’ in popularity I would rather watch a show than some idiotic crap on social media,” one person wrote.
“I’d love two seasons again, or even a spring season over a fall season. But ABC still has American Idol in the spring, and since they had budget cuts last season that were pretty significant I can’t imagine them being able to swing two seasons a year. I wouldn’t be surprised if having two seasons a year over saturates things too and leads to a decrease in viewership (maybe not at first but probably over time),” someone else added.
“Then that would cut your to just summer and they’d barely have a break and me personally hate short seasons… I’m fine with once a year,” a third comment read.
“I’d prefer they amp up the singular season again. More pro numbers two day finale bigger budget for music costumes all the little details,” a fourth Redditor weighed in.
‘The Bachelorette’ Probably Isn’t Done for Good
Though ABC is taking a break from “The Bachelorette” in 2025, the show’s host, Jesse Palmer shared some insight into the future.
“The good news is I know it’s not going away. I know it’s definitely coming back,” Palmer said on the February 10 episode of the “Playing the Field” podcast.
“Without being able to get into too much of the creative decisions on it, I know that when it does [return], I just think it’s going to be absolutely tremendous,” he continued. While he admits he’s “a little bit bummed” about the show not returning this year, he seems confident about its future.
“Once it does come back, I know Bachelor Nation will be really excited,” he said on the podcast.
